At Hyperbolic, we’re already having an extraordinary 2025. The entire decentralized AI ecosystem has seen massive advancements in AI agents, investment in infrastructure, and the release of groundbreaking new open-source AI models. We saw the entire AI ecosystem change overnight with the release of DeepSeek R1–January 2025 is definitely one for the AI history books.
We’ve been taking advantage of this wave of innovation as January has brought more strategic partnerships, community growth, and significant product developments that bring us closer to our vision of democratized AI delivered through an open access AI ecosystem.
January Stats
Monthly active users grew nearly 300% compared to December
Unique users leveraging our inference services increased by more than 140%
Token processing volume expanded by over 30% month-over-month
GPU rental transactions surged by 170% compared to December
Total GPU rental hours increased by 10% from December’s levels
The World Changed Forever with DeepSeek: Now Available on Hyperbolic
January went out with a bang with the release of DeepSeek R1. Hyperbolic is among the first to host this buzzy new open-source model on our Verifiable Inference service. On Hyperbolic, you can experience the record breaking performance of DeepSeek R1 without having to worry about the security of your data. When run on Hyperbolic, all data remains within our ecosystem and is immediately destroyed, keeping your identity and your IP safe.
Empowering AI Agents with Autonomous Computing
One of our most exciting developments this month was showcasing the groundbreaking capabilities of Agent Framework. Our CEO and Co-founder, Jasper Zhang, demonstrated how AI agents can now manage their own compute resources on Hyperbolic during appearances on AI Agent Days and The Rollup Agents stream. Alongside industry leaders from Mode, AltLayer, Eliza Labs, and Eigenlabs, Jasper illustrated how our Agent Framework is transforming agent autonomy by enabling direct interaction with our decentralized GPU network.
Expanding Access Through Crypto Integration
In our ongoing mission to democratize AI access, we launched crypto payment support for our GPU marketplace and Inference Service. Users can now pay using USDC, USDT, or DAI on Base for credits on Hyperbolic, making our services more accessible to the global Web3 community while maintaining our commitment to affordable, high-performance compute.
Building Community
This January we also launched our revamped ambassador program, introducing tiered roles from ambassador, to leader, to regional manager. As an ambassador, you can enjoy unique benefits including the most sought after tickets to AI and Web3 conferences, stipends to host local events, platform credits, and coveted Hyperbolic merch. We also established a regular community engagement schedule featuring:
Weekly community hours on Discord
Monthly CEO office hours
Monthly partner showcases on X
Regular developer contests
This month, our ambassadors brought our community together in San Francisco, Brooklyn, and Abuja, Nigeria for AI After Hours that included partners from Hugging Face, Poe, and LMSYS.
Strategic Partnerships
At Hyperbolic we know that we go further, faster, when we go together, and our ecosystem continued to grow stronger in January through new strategic partnerships:
We announced a partnership with ElizaOS that will supercharge Eliza, the lightweight, multi-agent AI framework built by the ai16z DAO community. Through this collaboration, Hyperbolic provides scalable, verifiable AI infrastructure—ensuring ElizaOS agents can run efficiently, reliably, and at scale.
Zerebro integrated with Hyperbolic’s decentralized AI infrastructure. Zerebro and ZerePy are now empowered to self-evolve, self-replicate, and collaborate autonomously at an unprecedented scale, powered by Hyperbolic’s decentralized AI infrastructure.
Advocating for Open Access AI Infrastructure
In a significant move toward shaping policy, we published an open letter to David Sacks ahead of the formalization of his appointment as the US's AI/Crypto Czar. The letter advocates for democratizing AI through decentralized GPU networks, establishing robust verification and privacy standards for AI inference, and creating open access AI ecosystems that empower the next generation of builders.
Introducing Hyperbolic’s e/acc Team
In January we also launched our Hyperbolic e/acc account (@hyperbolic_eacc) to share cutting-edge content on AI agents and the innovative intersections of blockchain and AI. This account will be a hub for the fearless exploration of the future of decentralized AI infrastructure and is led by Hyperbolic interns.
Going Hyperbolic
As we move further into 2025, we remain committed to our vision of building an AI ecosystem that's of the people, by the people, for the people. Through our decentralized GPU Marketplace, Verifiable Inference, Agent Framework, and most importantly, our growing community of builders, we're creating a future for democratized AI innovation.
