Imagine a solar system, where every celestial body plays a crucial role in maintaining the harmony and balance of the entire system. The sun provides energy, the planets support diverse ecosystems, moons influence tides, and even the smallest asteroids contribute by bringing in essential materials. Hyperbolic’s ecosystem operates in a similar way – everyone benefits, from the smallest node to the largest data center, and even those who interact with the system briefly. Each participant, whether a GPU provider or an AI service user, contributes to a dynamic environment where all elements work together harmoniously.

1. Hyperbolic Decentralized Orchestration Layer

The foundation of Hyperbolic’s system is its decentralized orchestration layer, powered by the Hyperbolic Decentralized Operation System (Hyper-dOS). This foundational layer manages and optimizes the use of global GPU infrastructure, bringing together computing power from data centers, mining farms, personal machines, and on-prem machines around the world. This combined power supports AI services by providing the necessary computational resources.

Hyper-dOS organizes these resources into various independent clusters. Key features of this system include:

  • Auto-scaling: Clusters can automatically adjust their size based on the demand for computing power.

  • Self-healing: Clusters can detect and recover from any failures by themselves, ensuring continuous operation.

  • Customizable: Clusters can be tailored to meet specific needs and preferences, making the system flexible and adaptable.

2. AI Services Layer

This layer, on top of our orchestration layer, hosts a suite of AI services and engines designed to provide essential AI functionalities, encompassing a broad range of applications and solutions that leverage artificial intelligence to automate, optimize, and enhance various tasks and processes across different sectors. Any developer can build on this layer. Not only does the AI services layer supports the development of individual AI models but also promotes a synergistic approach where multiple AI agents can collaborate and enhance each other’s capabilities, driving the ecosystem closer to achieving an open, safe, and verifiable superintelligence.

Services include:

  • Inference Services: Provides powerful and efficient inference capabilities, allowing AI models to make accurate predictions and decisions in real-time.

  • Model Training and Fine-tuning: Offers tools for developers to train and fine-tune their AI models, ensuring they can adapt to specific tasks and datasets effectively.

  • AI Model Evaluation: Tools and benchmarks to evaluate the performance and accuracy of AI models, helping developers to continuously improve their models.

  • Vector Database: A high-performance, scalable database designed to store and manage vector embeddings, enabling efficient retrieval and processing of large-scale AI data.

  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Combines retrieval-based methods with generative models to enhance the quality and relevance of AI outputs by leveraging external knowledge bases and databases.

  • Vector Embedding: Tools to create, manage, and utilize vector embeddings, which represent data in high-dimensional spaces for various AI applications like recommendation systems and natural language processing.

3. Verification and Privacy Layer

These layers ensure the security and integrity of AI outputs within the Hyperbolic ecosystem.

  • Verification Layer (Proof of Sampling): Implements a sampling-based verification protocol to ensure the honesty and correctness of AI inferences and other AI services. This mechanism, known as Proof of Sampling (PoSP), is the gold standard for verification in AI. Developed by the Hyperbolic team in collaboration with researchers from UC Berkeley and Columbia University, PoSP leverages game-theoretic models to secure decentralized systems. It also supports bringing verifiable AI results onto various Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchains such as Ethereum, Avalanche, NEAR, Polygon, Scroll, and Manta. 

  • Privacy Layer (Confidential Computing): Safeguards data and computations through advanced cryptographic techniques, ensuring confidentiality and privacy. It allows AI services on Hyperbolic to be adopted by Web2 enterprises, providing them with the necessary security and privacy protections.

4. Hyperbolic Blockchain Layer

At the core of the ecosystem, the Hyperbolic blockchain will facilitate settlement and governance. It also supports arbitration and verification of our verification layer, making sure everything is transparent and trustworthy.   1. GPU Exchange: A platform built on our GPU network and blockchain, allowing GPU usage hours to be traded like commodities in spot and futures markets, providing capital flow and cost-effective access to computing power while enabling GPU providers to secure revenue.

  2. Revenue-Sharing for AI Agents: Tokenize ownership of AI agents so that the revenue from AI queries can be redistributed among token holders through blockchains.

  3. Reputation and Incentive System: A framework where developers can gain reputations based on their contributions to open AI projects and launch tokens representing the utility of their AI creations, allowing users to invest and earn revenue based on the AI’s performance and adoption.

  4. AI-Powered DAO: A decentralized autonomous organization that leverages AI for governance decisions and treasury management.

  5. GPU Restaking: A mechanism that allows users to stake their GPUs to the Hyperbolic network and restake them to AI services to optimize resource allocation and improve network efficiency.

  6. Fractionalized GPU Ownership: A platform that enables users to own and trade fractions of GPUs, allowing them to own a proportion of the revenue generated on Hyperbolic, making high-performance computing more accessible.
